Happy New Year to All!
I hope you had wonderful times this holiday season, no matter who you were with or how you celebrate. We were in Manila for 3 weeks, came back 1 week before a Flamenco show up in Petaluma with my old friends Yeshe, Brenna, and Christina. I’ll post a few videos on my Instagram once I go through everything that folks share with me. I’ll let you know once they’re ready!
Just a reminder that I’ll be in Soquel this coming Sunday for another Bulerias workshop.
Please RSVP, and please feel free to share with friends and on social channels 🙏🎸💃👏😊
Best,
David

Hi All,
It’s time for a round of holiday celebrations and a big turning for the coming new year. I hope all of you stay safe, have many warm celebrations and memorable moments with friends, family, and feel joy and love here and there throughout the weeks to come.
I’m announcing the next workshops for Flamenco Jukebox, aka me, David Lopez-White; hosted by the gracious hosts Freddy and Marianna Mejia in Soquel at Flamenco Romantico.
It’s been a journey for all of us, I’ve been doing this series since October 2023 and there’s a core group of folks who show up just about every time. So far we have focused mostly on Bulerias de Jerez, and covered jaleos in rhythm, rhythmic modes and fundamentals of counting and syncopating in 3 and 6; form of a typical letra structure, melodic analysis and even more.
I know it’s a lot, as I’m trying to synthesize over 25 years of my own experience, but believe that I’m giving you all of the best insights from my journey and not holding back!
Last 2 sessions we added a couple Villancicos Flamencos since it’s relevant to fiestas de Navidad. Moving forward, we will continue our journey with Bulerias de Jerez, and my intention is to get more folks singing out, and also dancing – I know it feels like a risk, but that’s what we need to do to work out the kinks, and this workshop is definitely one safe space in which to do it.
See you there?! It’s 2+ hours long, 1x a month, with a sweet group of folks to spend time with. For those of you who know others who would benefit from this experience, please spread the word!
