When flamencos say they are "a gusto" * you can bet there will be some really wonderful flamenco happening!   One thing that gets flamenco artists into that state of creativity that comes when feeling "a gusto" is when compatible artists get together to interact freely in a warm and welcoming venue.  That's why this August (agosto) we have convened some of flamenco's finest artists from Spain for "A GUSTO EN AGOSTO," an evening of sublimely spontaneous flamenco expression between friends. Visiting artists Juan del Gastor and Concha Vargas direct from Spain will be joined by Bay Area resident flamencos Kina Mendezand Keni el Lebrijano, among others. We hope you will join us too! She has performed all over Europe, Asia and United States for over 25 years and has worked with such flamenco greats as dancers "El Guito" and Mario Maya, guitarist Pedro Bacan and singers La Macanita and Curro Fernandez. She performed with Antonio "El Pipa" as featured guest artist in both the US and throughout Europe. In recent years she has performed with Andrés Marín in festivals such as Seville's prestigious Bienal del Flamenco.    For information on workshops with Concha Vargas, click here    Juan del Gastor Juan del Gastor was born in Moron de la Frontera and is a nephew of the legendary guitarist Diego del Gastor. For more than 40 years Juan has been carrying on the family tradition of performing and teaching. He is a favorite performer in the peñas of Andalusia, the casetas of the Feria de Sevilla, during the celebration of the Rocio pilgramage, and he frequently appears at Sevilla's Bienal del Arte Flamenco. He has toured all over Spain and Europe and has appeared in festivals and theaters in the USA, Argentina and Japan.
